Gage - Old Greengage An old established variety with an admirable history dating back to 1724 but this tree is thought to be much older and named for the wife of Francois 1 of France (1494-1547). It upholds the reputation of having one of the best flavours for a gage / plum to grow in the uk. The fruits are a yellow green in colour and a medium size, it may not yield as highly as more modern varieties but the succulent flesh and superb flavour lif t it above many others.
